There were trees. They grew freely and fed on the light the air and the earth, providing energy and shelter for all. Through the wooden, organic towers you could see the sun set from over the hill in the distance, the deep golden-orange radiation split over the hill and was a great contrast with the land. The hill was varnished with green vegetable life; grass, which like the trees, was a source of food and shelter.

There were birds too, they swept like waves over the trees they called home and glided over the grassy hills, where they would feed. Slowly drifting on the wind hunting for insects, which in turn fed on the grass.

By the light of the day, the life-filled lake sparkled as it reflected the light of the sun. Through the almost completely clear, shallow waters you could watch the fish as they aimlessly wandered searching for food. The song of the birds, accompanied by the trees rustling in the wind provided a calmness throughout the land. When you looked up past the birds, into the air, you would see large white clouds floating on the wind across the blue sky, they held water and when they grew full they released it onto the land bellow, this process was necessary for life to thrive.

At night, the silence was broken only by the high pitched hoots of the owls, and the deep croaking of frogs from the lake, which reflected the darkness of the sky pierced only by the points of light which twinkled on the surface of the water. When you looked up into the cloudless, black sheet there was more than stars, the massive rocky body in the sky which reflected the light of the sun, and seemed to glow a dim white, it was this which provided visibility in the otherwise pitch black night.

At this time there were humans but they were few and far between, and like all the others they had an interdependent relationship with the land and all other species. Rather than conquering it and claiming the land as there own, they respected it and all its inhabitants.

There are now only towers of concrete and steal, even at the top of which the sun set is practically non existent. There is no green life in sight. The trees which once provided food and shelter for all have been destroyed. The grassy landscape paved over with hard black paves on which the humans move with there rubber footed metal vehicles which poison the air. The land is covered by structures which were built to house the massive, and increasing, amount of humans.

The birds fly over the unnatural structures searching for food, but there are no insects now, because there is no grass. The birds now eat the waste of the humans to survive. Where they once thrived they now struggle and are reduced to the small numbers which flock over the landfills.

Throughout the day the thousands of humans can be seen, each of whom consume food which is produced by other humans very far away. They grow plants and farm animals with only efficiency and productivity in mind, no regard for the well being of the land, no regard for the future. Massive fields populated by only one species and sprayed with chemicals to prevent other species from living. This the only way they can produce enough food to feed themselves. They have reproduced beyond the lands capability to support them.

At night, most of the humans sleep. In the sky there are few barely visible stars. The sky is polluted by the artificial lights produced by the humans. They are powered by energy from power stations, one of which is visible in the distance, pumping out black smoke, making the air dark and heavy. the air which supports all life is ruined.

The land is bare and lifeless now. few trees, few birds, few insects, little grass, polluted air, and a ruined landscape. Yet they continue to destroy, and fail to respect the land which was once beautiful.
