Romeo and Juliet – interrogating the text for clues

“some consequence yet hanging in the stars” this is a clue to the fate of romeo and Juliet, Romeo says this meaning he has a bad feeling about something that is going to happen in the future, by “hanging in the stars” he is suggesting that only god is in control of what happens which is a concept that Shakespeare uses throughout Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare gives his characters a almost supernatural ability to predict the future. Shakespeare does this to help reveal the ending but not tell you how it happens this helps build suspense in Romeo and Juliet.

Alfie, this is a very good answer. The strengths are:

    1) How deeply you’ve considered the representation of fate, particularly that you’re expressing the presence of fate as an intention of Shakespeare’s. This is what we call appreciating the ‘author’s craft’ – which is a big part of GCSE English.

    2) Some of the language you’ve used to express your ideas – like “he is suggesting” and “almost-supernatural ability”. These are great choices of words and phrases.

There are some minor capitalisation errors that could even be typos that need addressing.
